- To utilize two 3.5-inch drives in a Mac Pro, the Multi-Mount must be installed in the lower optical drive bay along with removing the top optical drive for proper clearance. However, using one 2.5-inch and one 3.5-inch drive with the Multi-Mount allows it to fit into a single optical bay and doesn't require the removal of the upper optical drive.
- When installing drives in the optical bay of a pre-2013 Mac Pro, the Mac Pro only provides a total of two (2) SATA connections. You may install up to four (4) SATA devices in the optical bay, but only two (2) SATA devices can be connected at the same time.
- OWC Multi-Mount 3.5-inch to 5.25-inch Drive Mounting Brackets are designed for use in bays where standard, separate connection cables are used.
- Compatible with side-mounted drive bays. Not compatible with front-mounted drive bays like those in some Mac Pro models.

This adapter is definitely a great addition to any MacPro 4,1 or MacPro 5,1! This adapter gives you great flexibility to add an additional hard drive and SSD drive in the Optical Bay. I’ve had mine for about a year and absolutely love it! I’m planning on getting a second for my secondary MacPro 5,1 once OWC has it is back in stock!

You need this bracket if you have already purchased a OWC Multimount to install a 2.5" or 3.5" drive into the 5.25" drive bay of a Mac Pro. The multimount I originally got only had the ability to mount one 2.5" SSD and so I needed this bracket to install a second 2.5" SSD into the 5.25" bay. You do need the multimount bracket first which allows you to mount 3.5" drives into the 5.25" bays. This bracket further allows installation of 2.5" drives.
