3-23-19, Saturday. Around 3pm Pacific daylight time. Installed SuperDrive today. Went step by step with the video guiding me from start to finish using my MacTech 14 piece tool kit that I bought in February. Having the right tools for the job makes it so much easier to get it done right the first time and faster than if you don't have the right tools. When I restarted my Mac and tested the drive it worked perfectly. Faster than the old drive. Other World Computing, go with the best and forget the rest. MDK On my MacBook Pro(with new SuperDrive).

It is good to know that OWC cares about the preservation of venerable pre-Unibody MacBook Pros. The OWC Mercury Internal DVD/CD Writer is a perfect match for my MacBookPro3,1. Next to a 1-TB OWC SSD, it now beautifully plays the Last Samurai movie on a 17" display. A perfect tool, as Katsumoto would say: "I belong to the warrior in whom the old ways have joined the new."
