Aria Extreme N 802.11n Wireless Mini-PCIe Card
For Intel-Based Mac Desktops & Notebooks

You've experienced the freedom and satisfaction of connecting to the Internet wirelessly, but now is the time to skip to the next generation in WiFi—Sonnet's Aria™ Extreme N will help get you there! This little card (just 2" x 1-1/8") delivers 802.11n wireless network connectivity to Mac Pro, MacBook®, MacBook Pro, iMac® (Intel), Mac mini (Intel), and Windows® notebook computers with an available mini-PCIe slot. Connected to an 802.11n router like the AirPort® Extreme Base Station with 802.11n, you'll experience data transfers up to five times as fast, and at up to twice the range offered by 802.11g networks(1), the previous wireless networking standard!
Aria Extreme N adds 802.11n wireless connectivity to compatible Macs without a wireless card, and upgrades systems originally sold with an 802.11g AirPort Extreme card. Sonnet delivers added value by including the specialized tools and detailed installation instructions that enable do-it-yourself installation(2) for Mac mini, Mac Pro, MacBook, and MacBook Pro users. |

Fast and Secure
Aria Extreme N can connect up to three antennas, depending on your computer's configuration, to maximize its performance with 802.11n routers that also feature multiple radios and antennas. 802.11n devices utilize MIMO (multiple input, multiple output) technology that enables multiple data streams to be transmitted at the same time, and provides enough bandwidth to allow simultaneous high-speed Internet access, HD video streaming, large file transferring, VoIP telephony, and more! Aria Extreme N supports 802.1X, LEAP, WEP, WPA, and WPA2 encryption for secure network configuration, so you can work wirelessly with confidence. |

| FAQs |
- The Aria extreme card is recognized, but does not seem to work.
- Solution 1: You may need a software update. Connect your computer to the internet via ethernet and keep running software update until no more updates are found.
- Solution 2: You may have an invalid configuration setting. (If another card is removed before the Aria extreme card is installed, the operating system may not automatically reconfigure to match it, so you may need to delete the configuration settings)
Delete the previous Airport Network Port configuration settings by following these steps:
1) From the Apple Menu, select System Preferences.
2) In the System Preferences window, select Network.
3) In the Network window, select Network Port Configurations from the Show: drop-down menu.
4) In the Network window, click on AirPort to highlight it, and then click Delete...
5) When the confirmation window appears, click Delete.
6) Back in the Network window, a new AirPort entry will appear. Click Apply Now; your Aria extreme card should now work properly.
- Is the Aria Extreme n Mini PCIe card compatible with the Mac Pro (2008 and later)?
- The Sonnet Aria Extreme n mini-PCIe card has 3 antenna connections and fully supports all Mac Pro computers. The Apple MA688Z/B Airport Extreme Wireless Upgrade Card (and some others) have only two antenna connections and are considered not fully compatible with 2008 Mac Pro computers.
- On a Macintosh, the Aria extreme n Mini-PCIe card works with g networks, but does not seem to work with n networks.
- 802.11n protocol for Macintosh requires software from an Airport Extreme Base Station with 802.11n, or AirPort Extreme 802.11n Enabler for Mac. If you are using an Airport Extreme Base Station, install the Airport Extreme Base Station software on your Macintosh and run any updates you find in Software Updates. If not, you may need to install AirPort Extreme 802.11n Enabler for Mac.
- WiFi Dropping in OS X Lion?
- There is evidence that OS X Lion is more sensitive than Snow Leopard in maintaining wireless connections.
|
| Notes |
- Your system's actual performance may vary based on distance between Aria Extreme N and base station, connection rate, location conditions, and other factors. Range may vary with location conditions.
- Although Sonnet provides detailed installation instructions and specialized tools, do-it-yourself installation of Aria extreme n into a computer other than Mac Pro may be difficult for those with little experience in taking apart computers; professional installation is recommended.
- For Macintosh, 802.11n protocol requires Airport Extreme Base Station with 802.11n or AirPort Extreme 802.11n Enabler for Mac software (sold separately).
