I installed OSX 10.1.2 in a PM 7300 with original CPU (PPC604ev @200MHz), onboard display and an Apple 17" monitor and OSX did not recognized the monitor, as I got stuck with 640x480 resolution. Any ideas? |

You could try downloading a utility called SwitchRes (available on VersionTracker). This may allow you to force the video driver into your preferred resolution despite what the OS thinks is connected. If that doesn't work then I can give you instructions for a hardware hack that I used to get round a similar problem with a Multiple Scan 15" model by modifying the sense pins in the DB-15 connector so that it was recognised as a VGA display - giving access to most of the available resolutions. It involves a small amount of soldering inside the plug (to bridge two of the sense pins together) so unless you're happy to risk it I won't bore you with the exact details. You could also achieve the same effect by installing one of those DB15-VGA adapters that has DIP switches on it to emulate different monitors. However you'd end up with two adapters hanging off the back of your system, one doing DB15-VGA and a second going back from VGA-DB15 (which may have been supplied with your monitor). Not ideal and prone to getting damaged. |

No, this one has no ADB, only the 15-pin Apple analog connector. I believe the ones that has the ADB were the AppleVision and ColorSync monitors, if I'm not wrong. This one is not even Trinitron, it's a flat-square OEM made by LG. OS 10.1.2 recognized an Apple Multiple Scan 20 in a PM9600 I have, using a ATI Rage Orion 128. |

Is this one of the "special" monitors that had an ADB connection to the computer (as well as the video connection)? If so, there is a bug in the driver you can work around--let me know if it is, and I'll find the instructions. |

...dongle? Mmm, this monitor has the proper connector for the 7300... 15-pin, wide. It's an Apple MultipleScan 720 (beige, 17"). Any ideas? |

What kind of monitor? If you have a proper dongle it will work. Usually with Apple monitors you don't need a dongle... Usually. Marty |
