Installing OS X 10.2 on PowerCenter Pro |

I've successfully installed OS X 10.1.5 on my NewerTech G3/400 upgraded PowerCenter Pro machine with only the built in video (even though it isn't supposed to work)... Once that was up and running I'd tried to move to OS X 10.2, but when it starts to run the installer the initial screen pops up and then it's overwritten with pixel garbage and then everything hangs... The only monitor that I've got connected is a very old 640x480 one... Any chance OS X 10.2 needs a higher resolution monitor or maybe I've taken the built-in video to it's limits... Any other ideas? Thanks in advance for any help... - Mark |

I'm up and running on Jaguar now using the built-in video... After reading another users message, I rebooted into Mac OS 9, put in my OS X 10.2 Upgrade Disc and then moved the XPostFacto throttle to 13... Then I told it to boot off of the installation disk and off it went... When I tried it the other times, I was already booted into Mac OS X 10.1.5 and was just double-clicking on the OS X 10.2 Installer application when it locked up... Don't know if it was the throttle or booting straight off the CD, but either way I'm a happy camper... - Mark |

A multi-sync monitor would be usefull for testing purposes at least. Maybe OS X is switching the monitor to unsupported frequencies? You need a multi-sync monitor to rule that out. If it works with the multisync monitor but not with your old monitor then you'll know it's your old monitor causing the problem. |

PCP seem to be problematic... Don't recognize that issue though. Do you have another video card to try? Marty |
