the drive you install OSX on must be formatted in the hfs+ format. bring the computer up on another drive save anything you can't replace and format the drive using the os9 disk utility. On the page that allows you to format there is a button called (I believe format options) and on the next page select one (or More if you need) partitions and that will allow you to select the hfs+ option do not select standard or the unix option. You didn't say what type of drive you are using SCSI or ATA/IDE. If you are using SCSI you can stay with 1 partition if using ATA/IDE depending on the type of card you are using you will have to have the first partition of the drive less than 8 gig (like 7.99) or you will have problems with the install and it has to be the first partition. There are lots of posts on both of these subjects lost somewhere in the forum if you go and manually search you will probably find plenty more information and better put than my ramblings. The lack of a search feature is one of the ongoing discussion points...... we realllly need it. |
