I just purchase a Sonnet ATA 133 card to use with my new 120 MB HD with 8MB Cache. As I read here the other day the could have a probpem. But so fur I do not see any probpem with it. It works perfectly. But I have an other type of problem. I also have an Apple card with the ATTO chipset defined as Apple53C875Card. The problem is that the system cannot start at OSX if this card coexists with the Sonnet. When starts to boot displays a meesage like that CLAIM faile err open deblocker pkg and the system cannot boot. Is this a problem of XPF or I have to tell it to sonnet for firmware update (possibly)??? |

Sorry for going so far off topic... glad to hear you figured it out there... Pehaps you could try removing the 10/100 card instead? At least then you could use the built in ethernet and have USB/FW too... I think if you were in verbose mode, and running out of NVRAM was the issue, it would report it as an out of NVRAM error? Sorry to desterb your talking but I think that the last answers were out of the subject. I have some new findings about the problem I deskribed earlier. The problem is not with the Apple SCSI card. I have removed my orangeliung USB2 and Firewire card and the system works with the card on. So it is bossible the problem that there is not enough space on the NVRAM as well as gregoryy said. I also tried to remove the RATOC USB2 and Firewire card and also worked. Is there a way to reduce the anount of memory that these cards tooks in order to have them all installed??? I have read before some months that Rayan redused the memory that some cards took in NVRAM in order to make more space available is this applicable for one of my cards??? My PCI Card listing. SLOT 1 : Sonnet ATA 133 Card with Firmware version 4.0 SLOT 2 : Ratoc USB2 and Firewire Combo card SLOT 3 : Empty (Here I place the OrangeLink USB2 andf Firewire Card) SLOT 4 : ATI Radeon Mac Edition SLOT 5 : Apple SCSI Card "Apple53C875Card" with an ATTO Chipset SLOT 6 : Apple Ethernet 10/100 Catd with a DEC chipset Thanks in advance George |

Mozilla is a very high quality browser, and the email program is ok too. I support several multiplatform users with Mozilla on both Mac OSX and on the PC. Marty |

They are trying to imitate MS to get the people back. Netscape has gone under and is not comming back. Mozilla is now its own organization and IE is no more either. It is sad that Netscape was finally put under, they were the first to have a good browser and because of MS monoplistic power they were put out. |

Tell folks what computer you are running, and the model of the ATTO? not the number. One possibility is that the Sonnet and ATTO cards, both of which are Open Firmware devices, uses your limited boot RAM. The other, that pre-NewWorld (but including the B&W) require an "hfs wrapper" which is a mini-system boot loader program that also has to use that limited 4MB of boot RAM. It is stuff like this that make me livid. About the only reason to upgrade to a new(er) computer - hardware bugs from day one, not enough RAM, besides needing more power just to run new OS and programs. (Mozilla uses 80MB, weighs in at 45MB - could never run THAT on my SE/30). At some point, there is a limit to upgrades, and we all hit it in one way or another. |
