I have a native CD of OS 10.0. Do I have to get a native 10.2 Jaguar CD in order to run 10.2 with XPostFactor? Or can once I have the 10.0 CD installed update with normal downloads from Apple? I have a Umax S900 with XLR8 Mach Carrier SSE 450MHZ processor upgrade. Any problems that anybody might see? Thanks, Popeye |

The Upgrade Discs for 10.2 that require 10.1 to be installed, do indeed work with XPostFacto. Check the forum or start a new thread so that we can help you figure out what the problem is. |

Could VoxxDigital's comments regarding upgrades/updates extend to upgrades vs. complete 10.2 disks? I have a PM 7300 with a PowerLogix G3/350 upgrade that has been successfully transitioned (thanks to XPF) to run OS X 10.1.4. However, when a friend loaned me his 10.2 upgrade disks (2 of them, for an original PM G3) the process hung when the system attempted the obligatory reboot prompted by XPF. The text scrolling across the screen (typical for an XPF reboot) stopped with an error (unfortunately at the time I didn't write it down). |

I now understand that they are upgrades rather than updates. Thanks for help! I have very few friends that are MAC mostly PC but I have one but they're down in South America and returning soon. Maybe I'll wait and keep reading. Popeye |

p.s.: before install, read THOROUGHLY all the instructions and readme files to avoid a potential headache. |

The issue about the updates aren't exactly about the size, but mainly because they could replace some patched XPF extensions that could prevent your system from booting. As for the major version changes, i.e 10.0 to 10.1 to 10.2 (different from 10.1 to 10.1.2) they are usually upgrades, not free updates. Anyway, why don't you... er... borrow a 10.2 CD from a friend to make a test...? |

I think I got it about the updates. Please correct me if I am wrong. The updates are significant downloads, right. That really doesn't matter to me because I have a DSL and I can archive them on Zip, CD-R, or my server which has lots of space. So if time and space is important then can I still use the updates with XPostFactor? Thanks for feedback, Popeye. |

Thanks for replies. I sort of want to get going on this project and let set for awhile so I guess I'll dump the dough on 10.2. I still get why the updates won't work is this a thing with XPostFactor. Sorry for naiviness, I am mainly a pc guy being converted! Popeye |

You need an OS 10.2 CD. I would wait untill panther comes out because otherwise it will be a wast of money. Think of the 10.x updates os full number updates. they are usually about that sugnificant. |
