OS 10.2.7 is shipping today with the new G5 machines, so i guess the 10.2.7 will be up soon for dowloading as well. Let me know if anyone downloads it and installs it and if it works with XPF. Gabby |

USB-2 cards will work in OSX 10.2.6 as USB-1.1 OHCI compatibility mode ONLY, if they work. Trust me, I did a LOT of tests. I have a "funky" USB-2/FW combo card and it worked as USB-1.1 AND firewire right out of the box, without any extra driver. I only needed to add a USB-2 EHCI driver to enable USB-2 high-speed. Most USB-2 cards (except with VIA chipset, which does not work at all), even unbranded, works directly in OSX, but in slow speed only - unless you have the EHCI driver. Since the G5 comes with built-in USB-2, I believe OSX 10.2.7 must come with USB-2 drivers to make its own interface work. |

Actually, I think powderhaus is closer to the truth... there did need to be SOME changes to allow the full memory space to be addressed. But beyond that, it is just a hardware fix. I guess I should mention that people have been reporting USB 2.0 cards working in OS X without extra drivers for awhile now (unless you have a funky card like the USB2/FW cards, and I think a couple of those will even work without extra drivers) |

I believe OSX 10.2.7 must have USB-2 support as well. |

I think that 10.2.7 is a G5 only deal (could be wrong) but i think the only thing it changes is it adds the ability to exicute and adress memory at 64bits. It adds channals for 64Bit operations, if it does anthing else then we will see the update, if not, then i would bet that 10.2 is dead and only security updates will come out. This becase 10.3 should be out some time soon... |
