This obviously falls into the nice-to-have category. I'd like it if I could get some 2-button functionality out of my mouse. It helps me to be productive. It's pretty amazing that this is about the only thing lacking so far in my XPF experience. Performance-wise, its not great, but its allows me to gain valuable hands-on experience without having to buy something that as a jobless person, I can ill afford. I'm running a 7500 with: 400MHz G4 MetaBox JoeCard ATI Xclaim video card 416MB RAM 18GB IBM 7200rpm drive |

This isn't going to help you with your Macally 2 button mouse. For the record there is oddly enough full support for two button features with my ADB Alps Glidepoint (mouse replacement) Mac OS 9.x requires special non apple extensions for it to work. Amazingly enough it works fine in OSX (all versions so far)The Glidepoint does have a third button at the top which doesn't work in OSX. |

Okay. I already have a USB/FireWire Combo Card installed and it's working fine. Thanks for responding. |

I don't think there are any OSX drivers for multi-button ADB mice. If you have a spare PCI slot I'd suggest a cheap USB card and a cheap USB mouse with two buttons and a scrollwheel. Probably get the pair for less than $30. USB will also give you access to all sorts of USB printers, scanners, modems, disks etc. OS9 and OSX will support the USB card if it uses one of the common chipsets e.g. OPTI, regardless of the actual brand name. OS X will support both mouse buttons and the scrollwheel without any additional drivers. You'll need to keep your ADB mouse connected as this will be required for using special key sequences during boot. If you want the mouse to work fully in OS9, either go for a Macally or other Mac friendly manufacturer or install USB Overdrive which will support most third party mice. |
