USB-2 on third-party PCI card is gone, no matter I re-install the custom drivers. Well, it actually sort of "works", but it crashes (very seriously) all the time using USB-2 devices such as my external HD. |

I've run Classic both under 10.2.8 and as a standalone, and networking, printing, etc., all work well on my 8600/G4/450. Must be your model. Bummer! Makes you wonder if the dudes that did this updated came from M$. --Dwight |

I agree the stand alone Combo DL form Apple is better than the dl from software update. I have far fewer problems using the combo than SW update. So far I have had no problems using 10.2.8. Tho I am using it on a Cloned drive copy of my usual main drive if it keeps up the good work I will put it on all my X drives and recommend it to my friends ( they let me be the test rat). Hopefully Apple got it right this time |

Works fine here! I don't use classic though... Using the combined update also is a good way to "fix" installer generated issues in my experience. Download the stand alone combo 10.28 reinstall it, and fix permission and see if that helps. Weird they would be changing OT at this point unless it's for a SECURITY issue. Marty |

I belive it is a troulbe with Classic as I did not have the trouble until I started Classic. Seems that Apple updated Open Transport for Classic. Check for yourself if you like, but they did. Could be just the setup I have as I did get it back working after resetting the PRam unhooking the ethernet and reseting my Router. So, if you have network trouble in 10.2.8 after starting Classic don't say I did not warn you. |

You can fix your problem with the Apple Ethernet/Battery Patch update - fix for 1st 10.2.8 update instead of 10.2.8 6R73 I show this in version tracker |

I can understand your frustration. I lost a hard drive this past week (not due to 10.2.8, but frustrating nevertheless). However, I have good news for you. I applied the initial 10.2.8 update to both my 8600 (Powerlogix G4/450) and 9600 (Sonnet G4/800) and both are working as expected. I've downloaded the latest 10.2.8 combo but have not installed it yet. Chibi may have a very good point: apply the latest combo updater. --Dwight |

Ehhh....download and use the combo updater. It should have the ability to (re)install the correct drivers for your Sawtooth. This particular update has been a sour taste in Apple's mouth for sure. Not only is there confusion on which 10.2.8 you have, or need, but also two separate downloads, one for G3/G4s, the other for G5s. WAY TO GO APPLE! Chibi Delennâ„¢ |
