Greetings all! Just thought someone might be able to help us with this one : Machine Details : * A home automation machine I wish to change over to the might of OS X! * PowerMac 9500/150 * Sonnet G3 375Mhz Upgrade Card * 320Mb of RAM * Acard 100/133 ATA PCI card * 80Gb Seagate Barracuda HD, 3 x Apple Extended Partitions * Partition 1 contains OS 9.2.2 thanks to os9helper * USB PCI card (+) * RealTek 8139c based generic 10/100 ethernet card (+) * Keyspan SX Pro 4 port serial PCI card (+) I installed 10.2 to Partition 2 and the machine rebooted. It comes up with the grey apple screen with the endless grey pizza wheel. I tried pulling out all the cards marked (+) leaving only the ATA controller and original video card. A verbose boot shows shows a stack of "can get dependencies for kernel extension "oldworld.support.PatchedSCSIDeviceType5" and similar before Got boot device = blahblahblah BSD root: disk0s7, major 14, minor 7 devfs on /dev Load of /sbin/mach_init, errno 86, trying /etc/mach_init Load of /etc/mach_init failed, errno 2 Any ideas where I should go from here? Cheers, Antony. |

OSX on ATA cards needs the FIRST partition of whatever drive it is on, Also for ATA drives there is a limit to the size of the partition (should be >8 gigs. If your install is on a scsi disk try playing with the throttle saetting in XPF, if you hear a repetitive drive cycle as it boots. It will be a noise that last for a few second, then repeats every ten seconds or so. If you get this, take the throttle to 10, and go from there. |

Also, some times if you get the stop sign boot screen, just warm booting can help... |
