beige g3 10.2 problems |

I recently installed jaguar onto my beige g3 (didn't use xpf). The install was successful but the os seems to have caused more problems then good. By the time I had finished installing some needed software and setting up the internet the system began to stall. Following a restart(without proper shutdown for obvious reasons) os x.2 boots fine but never loads the desktop. I get the apple, followed by blue screen and welcome to os x, then I see my desktop background, but no hard drives or finder window. My HD is running x on a 7.4gb partition, with 9.2 running on a separate 2.6gb partition. Rebooting into 9.2 worked originally, during which I ran disk first aid to check the x partition. First aid found "minor mounting errors" but successfully repaired. Rebooting into x was still not successful, and appeared exactly as described earlier. Now I am no longer able to boot to 9.2. Holding option at startup does not work. The system begins to boot x (I think) and then repeatedly displays the message "can't open" across the screen. It then boots into 9.2 but freezes early on. What can I do to fix these problems??? Why is 10.2 so unstable? I feel like all I did for the 24 hours it was running was to reboot due to frozen screens. |

use command + S to get to the command line in single user mode and type the "/sbin/fsck -y" command as shown. Then when done and no errors reported - rerun if there are any - type "reboot" and when it does, hold down shift key to boot using Safe Mode. You might want to reboot from the CD and run Disk First Aid from Disk Utility there, and also run "Repair Permissions" while at it. Are you still at 10.2 or have you updated beyond, say 10.2.8? |

is your 7.4gb partition the first hfs partition on the disc. Is the Disc the master. Do you have a slave drive??? |
