Greeting to all, "Long time listener, first time caller." I've successfully install 10 via XPF on several machines. Many thanks to you RYAN!!! I'm now looking to ugrade the graphics cards in these (mostly 7500's). I know you can flash a 64MB PC Radeon 7000 card. However I've also seen reports of flashed 8500's and 9000's, with ram sizes as large as 128MB. My question is, in these old machines, does that much vram even matter? Can someone provide a list of flashable cards (not instructions of files, I can find those later) and maybe the pro/con of each. Thanks in advance, Cory |

R7000 64MB DDR Got one, love it in my ride, PM9500. I posted the benches between this card and a 32 meg card a month or so ago (NOTICABLE IMPROVMENT!!) here, don't have the data anymore, but it is here on a fairly large thread. Problem is, since this is NOT SEARCHABLE, you will have to go back a bit. I have left PCI Extrme enabled without an serious issues on this card, seems to work VERY well. Jim |

To mjoecups358: I would be interested in learning how you flashed a PC radeon 9000 PCI card to work on a PCI PowerMac. Can you direct me to sites to download the flashing software? I have a 9600 with a Radeon 7000 that works great, but I'm writing this on my 7500 w/ 7600 motherboard and on-board video (4 MB). This is the machine I like to experiment on. |

The newer PCI cards have no acceleration in OS9 because the drivers are written for AGP cards. |

voxxdigital, Is that to say that the newer radeon flashed cards (8500 9000) won't work in 9? |

...not to mention that the R7000 64MB DDR fully works in OS 9 as well as in OSX, 2-D, 3-D, OpenGL, Quartz Extreme... |

Marty, Thanks for the info. I want the best performance vs. cost. The 7000 flash is fairly well known and seems stable, it's harder to find info on the newer cards. SO I don't know how reliable they are. I can get the 7000 for under $40 USD, so I'll probably go that route. For everyone else, I'd still like some more info from people who are running flashed cards. Maybe configurations and benchmarks? C |

currently no 128M radeon is working as far as I know. The 64M Radeon 9000 PCI is a possibility ( I have a working powercolour with a ROM JoeVT moded). Marty |
