I bought a cheap 2x burner from OWC while back. And while I have never gotten it to burn in OSX - it has played CDs. Since I installed iTUnes 4.1 it loads up the CD and then trys to play a track, goes to the next etc. until there are no more tracks to try. Anyone had this prob. Or better yet have a way to get this burner to work in OSX? Thanks, Mosh |

You may not be able to bring that drive to the side of light. You might be able to, but a flash of the firmware is needed I think to get it to run properly. If you have never flashed a BIOS, BE CAREFUL, potentially you could hose it for good. I think I am not the only one who has had this happen! ;-0 |

Okay if toast doesn't see it, I would think there is a firmware update neede, OR something wrong with that drive, just for kicks, can you put it on another bus and try it?? |

Toast 6.0 doesn't see it either. it's a 2x burner and a 6x reader...i think the termination is fine unless there is something I am just dumb about. Everything else on the chain works. But I know enough to be dangerous and not much else. :) Mosh |

Oh yeah could read the title of your post, sorry. Is the termination set properly on your scsi bus??? Also do you use Toast?? If so what happens when you try to burn a CD?? Have you tried making a drive image BEFOR you burn, that can help with Toast, and the dreaded buffer over-run. Since that is not a standard drive from Apple, wont work natively with your OS, unless you hack around it. Do you know the read speed of that drive?? If it is only a 2X write, the read is probally not the best either. |

HHMMM, since it is from OWC, I assume that it is an OEM, if you can find out who exactly made it, it might be possible to fix with a firmare update, not sure where to go from there. |
