I would double check to be sure, but if it had a g3 in it , it SHOULD have the L2 cache out. Sometimes , however, that is not the case, so it might still be there. When you put your Ram in, you will see it then. A clue would be to check ASP to see what the L2 cache is, if it is something like 512 k, then you should be good to go, that is the cache on the g3 card. It also might be 1 meg, if that chip is a faster one. If you see something like 712k, then you probally still have your cache chip in. With regard to memory, shopuld be all the same speed and manufacturer, OWC EDO RAM is 25 bucks for a 128 stick, I would stock up, and be careful of older RAM, if the speed is any different, you might run into trouble. Good luck, let me know how its going, sounds like you have done your homework and are doing this the smart way. If you are going for DAM, do it before you put Jag in, just one less thing to deal with at that point. One last thing, is that 18 gig drive on the same bus as the main hard drive?? If so that should be fine, just waking sure the chain is terminated. If the original drive is at the end, then you are good to go! Lastly does your CD ROM boot into os 9 off a CD?? Some of the older ones will not, the Mashita's, Sony are okay. That one drove me NUTZ when I first tried to install onto an 8500. Out another one in and off it went. It WILL take a while to load into X from the CD. |
