I'm trying to get video out of my ATI 7000 in 10.1. PTPro / G4700 / card in bottom slot / no other cardsCard works in 9.1 & 9.2. I installed the OS X s/w for the ATI using an ATI mach64, shut down, switched the cards, and rebooted. No video. Card says it works with 10.1. Only other thing I can think of is the monitor is a apple 13" but then again it works when I'm in 9.1 & 9.2. Should I go to 10.2? I was going to anyway, but I want to take simple steps to get there so in case something does not work out, I only have one upgrade to trouble shoot. What am I missing? |

Thanks. I came across the 10.1.5 minimum after posting my problem. The "input & output" advice is appreciated, too. I decided to go straight to 10.2 rather than to 10.1.5. Got the ATI working in 10.2. ...but... then I went up to 10.2.5, and now no video again. Suggestions? BTW, I did the upgrade while in OS X...you don't need XPF do you? |

A couple of ideas that may help. Using XPFacto choose your video card. At the top of the screen in XPFacto you will find a place for "input" which should be set to keyboard rather then none and "out put" should be set to your ATI 7000 card. It will say ATY....something rather then ATI most likely. This didn't need to be done with older video cards so it gets missed a lot.It does take card of the black screen until log on issue and may work for your problem as well. Someone else has said that 10.1.5 is the first version of OSX that works with the Radeon 7000 card. You only mention using 10.1 it's a free download I believe. Usually the best and newest video drivers for the ATI cards are included in the OSX OS rather then downloading from ATI. Apple 12 in monitors are noted not to work with OSX no mention of other sizes having issues that I've heard of.Best of luck. |
