I've tried to install OS X onto my UMAX S900 (XLR8 G4 400, 512 MB, Sonnet Tempo ATA66 w/ 10 GB and 40 GB drives), I've tried installing from a 10.0 and 10.1.4 CD. I've used two different drives, DVR-103 on the Tempo card and an Apple CD-ROM on the internal SCSI. Both resulted in the same error (of course with different SCSI IDs): dlil_init IOKitBSDInit From path: "scsi-int/@3.0:9", Waiting on IOPathMatch key>IODeviceTree:/bandit/gc/mesh/@3:9 dlil_intput_thread 28239a4 I'm given the option to continue or reboot but the computer will not respond to the keyboard except for the three fingered restart sequence. I have to force a reboot and command-option-shift-esc to get back to OS 9. |

I wasn't actually getting a kernel panic. For some reason, I believe it was the ADB. I can't reproduce the error because I actually had success by changing hard drives (?!?!?!) and starting from scratch. I don't know why the error was happening. I was using BootX to start Yellow Dog Linux. That is a possibility. Anyway, Jaguar installed (almost) the first time. I'm using it now. It has been really flaky until I turned on the cache. so far so good. |

The kmods that aren't loading is a normal thing. The ones you mention are all needed only for specific versions of Mac OS X, so they don't load for other versions. That leaves the question why Mac OS X can't access your CD. Are you getting the "Still waiting for root device" message that repeats every minute or so? Or do you get an actual kernel panic message (the "continue or reboot" sounds like the latter). |

Just tried Jaguar. Same resultant waiting error. At least it's not the install CD's! :) There was a small difference in IOCatalogue reporting that the oldworld.support.PatchedIOSCSICDDrive cannot be found. With 10.0 and 10.1 it was an extension that ended in 4K78. |
