Anybody used M-Audio/Midiman PCI audio cards |

I'm tempted to get the Audiophile 2496 product. They claim support with drivers for 10.1.5 & 10.2. Has anyone used this product in an XPF'ed machine? The idea of PCI based sound-input seems wonderful, especially from a CPU cycle perspective. I need to rip my 3k vinyl/cassette tapes to digital form & really don't want to use my PC to do the job. If someone has one of these cards, I'd be curious of the CPU hit it has. Stephen |

Does it allow you to input sound? I noticed that Midiman/M-Audio has released 10.2 drivers. Have you tried them? I have an 8600, so, slots are at a premium, but then, I don't have the timing issues of 6 pci slots. If someone reports success, I'm off to the online store to get the sonnet trio card to free up a slot for this audio card. stephen |

I've got the Audiophile 2496 in the bottom slot of my 9600. It freezes my machine after playing anywhere from 30 seconds to 30 minutes. I have yet to experiment with it in different PCI slots--I'm hoping that will make the difference. |
