I have a 7200 case with a 7500 motherboard and a g3 processor upgrade. I have plenty of RAM, and installed 10.0 some time back. I've tried Xpostfacto and the sonnet utility to install 10.2 and both bail out of the installation process with a type 0 error. Circle spins undeneath the grey apple for a while then... Boom! back at the command line. I'd sure like to install osx on this machine, but don't get why I'm having so much trouble. -D |

Try booting in verbose mode (i.e. with command-v held down at boot time). That should give you some kind of error message instead of just the spinning circle. |

I swapped out the CD-Rom, I put it on the slower first scsi bus, terminated it properly, and left the boot up overnight. The little circle under the apple is still spinning as we speak. Gotta give it points for trying though. -D |

Thanks much! I have a buslink cdrw and a VST ultatek ata/66 card, but I'm guessing this is even less likely to work as an initial install. I'll try swapping, I have 3 cd-roms |

Try a different SCSI CD rom for starters if you have one. Make sure all your SCSI termination is as it should be. OSX is pickier then 9. Since it's a G3, no need to use the throttle feature in XPF.... I think finding a good SCSI CD is the hardest part for Mac builders (ie dumpster divers). |
