Classic 9.1 and 9.2.2 STILL break with xpostfacto 2.2.2 Mac 7500 with 10.2 and powerlogix g4/500/256MB RAM/9.1 GB drive Classic still breaks, seems to start loading, but then quits with no error message. OSX never even hiccups. Boots into 9.1 with no error, system folder "blessed" when restarting into 9.1. Updated all system folders, cannot install 9.2.2 off CD because classic will not run, but classic will not start off of 9.2.2 install cd. Is this me? It seems to work for other people...what am I doing wrong? |

Reinstalling BootX is fine--it will do no harm. It's not clear to me why it would help this problem. But I never argue with success :-) |

Okay, I got it working by checking the "install BootX" option. Even without that checked, I could boot in OSX, but classic would not run. Installing extensions had no effect. I have no idea what was going on, but classic would launch, the window would come up, but the progress bar wouldn't move and it would quit within two seconds without an error. If people have this problem also, and installing extensions doesn't work, is installing BootX bad? It worked for me... |

I'm assuming that you used the "Install Extensions" command with version 2.2.2 of XPostFacto to get the extensions installed. Exactly how far does Classic get for you now? Does it get farther than before, or does it quit just after it puts up the window (and before it draws the happy Mac)? Do you get any messages in the console.log or system.log? Also, could you send the output from the following command (using the Terminal). That will help determine whether the fix from 2.2.2 is working properly. The command is: ioreg -p IODeviceTree |

I used 2.2.2 to get Classic working on a 7500 with Xlr8 G4 450 no problems. |

Nothing, other than the fact that you have a G4 upgrade card. Look through the posts and you'll find a LONG thread on just this problem. Only those with G3 upgrade cards can get Classic to start under Jaguar. Ryan's been looking into the issue with the G4 upgrades - hopefully, he'll find a solution. Tony |
