I tried using XPF 2.2 and 2.2.1 and i can install 10.0 on my 9600/233 (4GB+ 4GB internal SCSI drives - to which one has 9.1 and the other is 10.0) w/ 380MB ram, no PCI cards, nu upgrades. stock video et al.... Now, I can get it up to 10.1 via that upgrade CD I purchased and do some of the updates to get to 0.1.5. Now please don't get me wrong. I am going to buy the family pack to get all legal like, but when i try to used the installer CD via XPF that i got with my Dual 867 Jag, it just hangs on boot after telling XPF what to do. All i get is the grey apple. on reboots, i get the crossed out symbol. I can recover to my os 9.1 drive, but then have to start all over again. I do not mind at all buying the family pack but would like to get 10.2 running on ther 9600 (as proof!) that it can be done. I have a few 9500's i want to repurpose and if i can pull it off on this machine I can also do it on some i have in mothballs. I just don't want to buy Jag and then be SOL. Know what I mean? |

I haven't had a good look at the Sonnet extensions lately. At least at first, there wasn't much difference between their extensions and mine, but that may have changed over time. I imagine that you will have needed their cache enabler to get things working. |

I purchased the Sonnet Crescendo PCI G4 800MHz processor card for my PowerWave (originally with 604 chip that Apple considers to be 9600). The Sonnet card freezes with 9.1 while scrolling, but worked well with 10.1.5 installed by XPostFacto. Sonnet claims you need their installer to get Jag, but that failled to allow an install. XPostFacto did install 10.2 but needed files from the Sonnet installer to actually run. While Jag did an hour of Photoshop well, it repeatedly froze on the menu bar update while logging onto intenet via modem. Any idea if there are conflicts between XPostFacto and the Sonnet files? |

Yes it is a 604e 233 9600. I am working on (wildly trying cause dataloss on this computer is just gonna be setup for family use) getting an installed version of 10.2 on my new FW/USB external and then clone it onto (after backing up my xpostfacto'd install of 10.1) onto the 4GB on the 9600. In the middle of it. Sorry for not saying it was a 604 prev. Cannot afford upgrade but the family needs the computer and i need to run X from an admin perspective and i would love to run 10.2. your app is great tho!!!!! |

The problem is that Mac OS X 10.2 isn't working with the 604 processor, and it sounds like you've still got a 604 installed. 10.2 will work on the 9600 if you have a G3 or G4 upgrade card. I'm hoping that 604 support can be restored, but I'm going to have to figure out exactly what is causing the problem first. I had hoped it would be obvious, but the source code is available now, and I can't spot it yet. |
