lately ,about half the time when i try and boot from 9.1 into 10.2 using XPostfacto i get the following screen message: disk0s6: 0X8 (UNDEFINED) disk0s6: 0X8 (UNDEFINED) disk0s6: 0X8 (UNDEFINED) disk0s6: 0X8 (UNDEFINED) this only occurs when i try and boot from my IDE drive attached to my Sonnet ATA 100 PCI card. Booting from another SCSI disk never causes any problem. i have 2 IDE drives they have 4 and 5 mounts respectively, does anyone hav any ideas what this message means and what to do about it? |

It appears that Sonnet is aware of problems with the ATA/100 card in Jaguar, and a patch will be forthcoming at some point. |

I found that a solution was to connect two drives to the IDE card. One on each connector. You can boot from one and use the other for misc storage. That is until they fix this problem... |

I had an error EXACTLY like yours (except for the disk number) after I installed 10.2 on my drive, also connected to an ATA100. Look on the Apple website (http://discussions.info.apple.com/WebX? 13@55.yN08aMqsdKT.17@.3bb9b23e/15)at that link for some further info/ discussion;this problem apparently affects users with "supported" machines as well...also go to http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/OSX/sonnet_ide_cards_and_10_2.html#storytop for more info on this problem... As of now,I've "devolved "to 10.1.5 on my ATA100-attached drives and am running 10.2.1 off an internal 9GB SCSI drive... I think a patch may be forthcoming (eventually)from Sonnet/Apple.. |
