HI, I Am looking into upgrading my PowerWave with some more Ram but the manual says it can only have 64mb but OWC says 128mb. The manual Is a little off not in anything like specs but the table of contents is way off. so i would believe that it could be wrong. I don't know who to trust. OWC (usually right) or a little manual that does not seem to be 100% on all parts. |

we have not put X on it yet. but we do have a 18gb hard drive. It has a powerlogix G3 300 MHZ in it but it is ridiculously unstable and slow (even for the G3 and its in 9!!)it has about 150-170 of memory it has 2 64meg modules with some 8or 16meg modules. (I'm not on it right now) |

Know what you mean about the manual: after a few hours work you could probably align the index with page #s. Anyhow, look at RAM configurations (in my manual, page 68). When the manual was written, our PowerWaves were able to accept up to eight (8) 64MB DIMMs, for 512MB. The technology advanced and you can stick [at least] 128MB DIMMs in each RAM slot. I have a pair, for 256MB, working just fine. Just make sure that they come from the same lot (if possible), use fast-paged mode and that they're 70ns or faster. Larry or others at OWC should be able to help (I got these from Small Dog). Keep me posted on your success. Are you going to, or have you installed a second harddrive for OSX? At 2GB, I know that my original IBM H/D won't have room. I am amazed at how good this machine was and is (upgraded the CPU twice, now with a PowerLogix G4 450). Good Luck , Hank Harwell |
