Currently running 10.1.5 on its own 4 gig cheetah LVD, with 9.1 installed an the other cheetah 4 gig lvd as my "classic". Works GREAT!!! I have nothing that i know of on my computer that would prevent me from going to 10.2. Tonight i am trying to upgrade this HD to jaguar. Using the latest version of XPF, I am getting as far as the osX install window in which i have to choose a HD to install Jaguar onto and that window remains blank ...no volumes show up...nothing greyed out..nada...zip!!!! My computer is not frozen at that point and i can back out and restart. Should i just wait longer? So far i think i'm waiting about 5 -10 minutes. |

On my machine i have one card and attached to it is 2 cheetahs, On one cheetah i have 9.1, and on the other i had 10.1.5. Before i flashed the card and before i upgraded to jaguar i could freely boot both drives no problem. But now after flashing the card i can ONLY stay on the Jaguar drive. The 9.1 drive is mounted and i used it as my classic drive, buti cannot boot back to that drive or i get a blinking question mark. On the card that got messed up did you try reflashing it with the older firmware? While i was on the Initio site gettingthe upgraded firmware i see they have a utilityto backflash it all the way back to to the OEM 1.05 firmware. Also if you send an email or call initio direct they will help you with your unsupported machine. They are all great guys and understand that not everyone wants a shiny new G4!!! I may lose this thread so feel free to email me direct if you have any questions. |

Did you upgrade the firmware with the card in that machine? I have two miles UW cards, of which one got messed up when I last updated the firmware last November. The other one was OK. I've been afraid to try to apply any other firmware updates because Initio will no longer support these cards in Beige G3's, which is my other computer. The one that still worked is in my Power Tower Pro, but since upgrading to Jaguar the drives attached to it are no longer recognized. Oddly enough though is that the card that was messed up will allow the machine to boot into OS X. If I try to boot into OS 9 it freezes the machine. Does the same thing to the Beige G3 in OS 9. I haven't installed OS X on the G3 since OS X 10.0.4. I tried flashing both cards under classic but the initio configuration utility does not see a card on the PCI slots even though it turns up in system profiler. |
