I get the following error while trying to install 10.0 onto my PMac 9600 with Radeon 7000 installed. RAM is interleaved (and stable under OS 9). Using 604e processor (error occurs with G4 processor as well). kCGSErrorFailure : CGSNewConnection cannot connect to server kCGSErrorFailure : CGSNewConnection cannot connect to server kCGSErrorFailure : CGSNewConnection cannot connect to server kCGSErrorInvalildConnection : CDGGetEventPort: Invalid connection the installer has unexpectedly quit. (error 1) Press the Return key to restart the computer... kmod_destroy: com.appledriver.AppleCore9PE (id 17), deallocating 8 pages starting at 0xbed0000 kmod_destroy: com.apple.driver.AppleMacRISC2PE (id 18), deallocating 8 pages starting at 0xbedf000 kmod_destroy: com.macsales.iokit.PowerstarCPU (id 19), deallocating 3 pages starting at 0xbee9000 kmod_destroy: com.apple.driver.AppleScreamerAudio (id 33), deallocating 9 pages starting a 0xbe73000 kmod_destroy: com.apple.driver.AppleThermal (id 34), deallocating 3 pages starting a 0xbe2c000 I'm trying to reinstall Mac OS 10.0 on to a freshly formated 20GB HD connected to internal scsi bus 0, ID4 with Apple OEM 4GB drive booting into OS 9. This worked before (installed all the way up to 10.1.5) and now it doesn't. The only change is additional RAM and a new video card (Radeon vs. XClaim 3D). What is causing this error and how do I fix it? Also, how do I boot into Open Firmware so I can issue the "reset-all" command? I hold down "command-option-o-f" after the boot chime, but just get a monitor which doesn't sync. |

Replaced the Radeon with the XClaim and the problem went away. The Radeon is the problem as it is not supported until verson 10.1.5 of the new OS. Thanks Britney. |

The video card is most likly the cause of your problem. The Radeon 7000 was not supported in X until 10.1.5. Reinstall the XClaim, install all the updates to 10.1.5 and then install the Radeon 7000. Britney |
