I have read some reports that if installing the Sonnet 800mhz card into an 8500, RAM has to be NON-interleaved. Is this true? Anyone with a 8500 install the Sonet card without having to de-interleave memory modules? I currently have 1gig and don't want to use less memory to install the card. Also does the Sonnet card set the bus speed to 50mhz? My 8500 currently runs at 45mhz and would benefit from a 5mhz increase. Or does it use the current bus speed and multiply that by 16. So 45 x 16 = 720mhz Thanks Tim |

Thanks Micheal Sonnet replied and said that interleaved RAM should not be a problem. Some of the other threads seem to suggest that too. So off to buy the card I go. Tim |

I think if you read the XPF documentation you will find it says that de-interleaving the ram may be a solution to certain problems if they occur. I wouldn't do it otherwise. I just installed 10.2 on a 7600 with the 800 mhz Sonnet upgrade and it seems deadly fast although I haven't subjected it to too much pressure yet. |
