XPF version 3 improvements |

I just saw the roadmap to version 3, and there's no mention about G3 Powerbooks. Version 2.0beta has initial beta support for some PB, but my Original PB G3, as for now, is still unsupported, and cannot run macosx. Does the project has been abandoned ? macosclassic prisoner... |

I'm not sure what is causing the phantom mouse clicks, unfortunately. I am seeing it with my MacAlly USB mouse from time to time, but not my ADB mouse. |

Can the phantom mouse clicks be solved too? |

I cannot install Mac OS X. My G3 Powerbook just not work with XPostFacto and Mac OS X because of the ethernet limitations that keeps me from installing OS X. When installer detects no network ports, it simply hangs forever. macosclassic prisoner |

I should clarify that the focus for version 3 of XPostFacto is fairly significant changes to the application itself. They are the kind of changes that are interdependent, so I need to work on them all together. While I'm working on version 3, I'll also keep working on additional platform support etc. And when I get something working, like the 6400 for instance, or dual CPU support, I'll put out another version in the 2.x series to incorporate those changes. So you won't need to wait for version 3 if I get those things to work. |

I really would like to see dual 604e support in 10.1.5 since I have a machine I can't upgrade to a G3/G4. Hopefully dual processor support would still work with any future dual CPU upgrades from PowerLogix or Sonnet Tech. |

I'm just wondering if this release will also include support for the alchemy based PowerComputing PowerBase. 6400 is alchemy too, right? |

It would be interesting to see a 5500/6500 running OS X. I had a 5500 and it was pretty slow compared to the 8600/300, but if the 603 processor is being looked at I assume that means that V3 will also support the 604 in the 8600. I installed a big fast SCSI drive which seems to have given at least a modest speed bump to the 8600, and I am looking forward to using 10.2. I have used 10.2 on a friends machine and it is very nice. I am for the most part very content with OSX on the 8600 and that is only possible with XPostFacto so I am very grateful for the work that has been put into it. bill |

On some clones (well at least my J700) There are 2 PCI buses one with 2 slots is an Apple bus the oth with 2 slots is some other bus that does not work under mac os X this is why people have crashes on start up when they place a card in the other bus. i will be getting a wireless network soon and would rather us a PCI card than a USB Card. so my request would be to ask you to look into this and try to salve this little bug. Thanks Jim |

I've just had a look at the roadmap, too, and will here chime in again with a request for the return of the ability to create a custom install CD. (I know its tricky, but it would be nifty, nevertheless.) Glad to see you're hopeful about the firewire/usb booting. Can you say "Unlimited Virtual NVRAM?" |

Version 2.2.2 of XPostFacto does have some support for the original Powerbook G3. The main limitations are that sleep doesn't work, sound is a bit wonky, PC Card support has some glitches (but is apparently somewhat improved in 10.2), and the "ethernet-only" ports don't work (the ethernet-modem combo ports are OK). Does your Powerbook just not work with XPostFacto and Mac OS X at all, or are the remaining limitations what keeps you from running OS X? I will keep working on the original Powerbook G3 support. I didn't mean to suggest otherwise with the feature list for version 3--that feature list is just focused on the application itself, rather than platform support. (As you might have guessed, it is a little tricky for me to figure out exactly which problems to spend my time on. So getting comments like yours is helpful to me--thanks!) |
