Installing Jaguar onto an Initio Miles2 card requires flashing the card with the latest firmware, trouble uis this causes all NON jaguar disks to be invisible....If anyone knows a work around for this i would love to hear it. |

I had thought that the latest version of the OS X.2 Firmware fixed this. I used to have to do the dance but after loading that I am able to see the disks from X or 9. |

So you're up and running? Just to be clear, as I understand it, that inia100.sim is the payload and the Miles_2_SmartSCSI_1.0? is the installer. Caused me no end of problems because you can't have two files (inia100.sim) with the same name in the same folder. Trying to get the installer to pick the driver I wanted for the OS I was booting in never seemed to work twice in a row... Could be a personal problem. If you're still talking to Initio, and they do give you one update to rule them all, let us know here. Thanks. |

If you get the circle with a slash through it, try holding down command-v as the computer restarts. That should get you an error message instead. |

No need, i was able to make out your post just fine. I basically have the same file names as you in my folder, with slightly different mod dates. My os9 is Miles_2 _SmartSCSI_9_1.06 and was created Jan 25, 2002 at 12:03 pm. And my osX driver is titled Miles_2 _SmartSCSI_9_1.07 and was created July 13th 2002 at 9:37 am. |

Well, so much for my fancy text formatting in the previous message. If you can't read that, I'll retype it. If you can't get satisfaction from Initio, I'll be happy to zip/stuff my two folders with the drivers that work on this system and email them to you. |

When I visited Initio's site a couple of weeks back it was pretty confusing. I downloaded what seemed like three or four different versions of the same thing. So, after trial and error, what I've been using (and that works on my system...which still has a drive hooked up to the internal SCSI bus) is: To see all Miles2 attached drives in os9 inia100.sim dated 12/20/01 11:49AM Miles_2_SmartSCSI_9_1.06 dated 2/22/02 3:00PM (also in this folder but unused *I believe*) inia100.sim 3.07 dated 2/22/02 2:59PM To see all Miles2 attached drives in osX inia100.sim dated 5/22/02 10:17AM Miles_2_SmartSCSI_9_1.07 dated 7/13/02 9:37AM (also in this folder is a app that runs in X?) Miles_2_Smart_SCSI_X dated 5/22/02 2:19PM The first three files are in a folder I've labeled os9 The second three are in a folder labeled osX Both folders are on my internal HD, as I know I'll be able to see it no matter what OS/driver combination I've set. It's old and slow, but it's a nice safety net. It's got 2 partitions, osX and os9. |

Problem is now i cannot even boot into osX. I am in conversation with Bob McWilliams from Initio and he is saying that the latest version of his firmware should work in all OS's now, but i just don't see it. I would try your work around, but i only get a circle and a line through it when trying to boot into osX after flashing my card with the latest firmware, which gave me a questionmark when trying to boot...down flashing the card lets me get to the os9 side, but not the 10.1.5 side( i have since gone back to that from 10.2 until i get a handle on this.) |

You'll see them when you're in X. It's a silly little dance that you have to do. Get both drivers (the one for os9 and the beta for osX) from Initio's site. It sounds like you've figured it out, but... To start X on your Initio connected drive: Load the os9 driver (if it isn't running already) and restart. You should see all your drives/partitions. Now, using the Initio updater app., load the X driver, quit the Initio updater (don't restart), start XPF, select the drive/partition you want to boot X from and NOW restart. Now that you're in X, all your drives/partitions are visible until...You want to boot back into os9. How you do that depends on whether you still have a non-Initio connected drive to boot into os9 from... I just keep two Initio folders, one for booting into X and one for running os9, on my os9 partitions. There's also an X version of the updater that can be run from X before dropping down into 9 if that works better in your situation. It's stupid, but it's beta and better than nothing. |
