I have MacOS X 10.1.5 from some months now and I have seen a problem with the sound input. I can hear sounds with no any problem but I cannot record anyhting. I know that this is an old issue, but I would like to help resolve this problem. What can I do??? I Have an old linux PPC if you want wich I can install in some days (When I found a SCSI hard disk from a friend of mine) to see if there is sound support. Do you need something from me if I found that it works??? And also this work is not needed if the 10.2 has support for that. Is it?? |

I would like to say that today after I installed 10.2 I found out that I still do not have any sound input support, even and after I heard that the 10.2 support sound in at least for 8500. A question to everyone and you Ryan, Is the 8500 and 9500 using the same sound card?? |

I have never seen any version of OSX have sound in on any of my Macs (7500,8500,Powerwave/Powertowerpro) I have tried the RCAs the minijack and Even a known good USB mic which works great on an imac I have here. The USB mic even shows up in the sound prefpane, but somehow, no joy... I have tried with Xpostfacto under OSX 10.1-10.21 on all the above mentioned boxes. I would love to hear one of the people who claim to have sound in working elaborate on there configurations and software..... Marty |

I haven't tried it yet, actually. But I do have a microphone sitting around somewhere, so I'll plug it in when I get a chance. |

Ryan, do you have any indication why sound input is not working. I tested a few audio apps to see if sound input would work but nothing is coming in via the built-in port. There is a VOIP app called Mac2phone that I want to use under 10.2.1 but this will not be possible I guess at present. I have a Power Tower Pro w/Sonnet G4 800, 1GIg of RAM. I can import sound over firewire with my DV camera. I suppose USB would work too but I'd rather not have to buy a 3rd party solution if possible. |

sound input does work 4 me, as does speech recog'n, but the system seems 2 b much more sluggish, and the recog'n doesn't seem 2 b as reliable as under 9.2.2:-( |

Actually, sound input works for me under 10.2 and my 8500+G3. Just need a 3rd-party app to record. The sound recognition setup System Preferences panel also work (i.e. the phrases are recognized). |

I've been meaning to look into this, but haven't found the time yet. It's interesting that you can hear the sound but not record it--that suggests that the driver is at least doing some operations correctly. |
