I've just spent several days getting 10.1.5 on a 7500/132MHz 604 computer working. I've got a couple of more computers that are essentially the same thing, and I don't want to have to spend a couple of days on each one! Can I just duplicate the hard drive in the one computer to other hard drives, and then stick those hard drives in the other 7500s ? I'm going to try booting into OS 9, making all of the files visible, and then copying all of the files to another HD. Then I'll put that hard drive into another computer and see if it works. If it does not work, is there anything else I can try? |

Carbon Copy Cloner will work great for this. I used it to copy my 10.2.1 installation onto a new hard drive, and then pulled the old drive, and it worked perfectly. The process takes longer than you would think, and I found that it was kind of picky about not doing anything else while you were copying the drive. I found that even clicking on another window while it was running (to check in its progress) cause it to get stuck once in a while. You will want to turn off your screen saver while it runs, and then just let it finish. My system (8600 w/G3 500) took about an hour to copy about 9G of data... Good Luck! |

There's an OS X shareware utility called Carbon Copy Cloner which you can download from versiontracker.com which will make bootable copies of OS X system disks. |
