Hi everybody I tried everything but I can't boot from the OSX 10.2 installer cd. This is my configuration: 7300/G3500 Powelogix 768 Mb ram (all OWC interleaved) Ati Radeon 7000 ATTO ExperessPCI UL2D (Apple OEM sold By OWC as OsX compatible) Quantum Atlas IV 9Gb (id 1 on the atto card with Os 9.1 installed) IBM DNES-309170 9Gb (id 3 on the atto card, target for OsX install) Original Apple cd ROM (termination cecked ok) Also internal term appear to be OK, IBM disk with jumpers on "Disable Unit Attention" and "Enable Auto Spin". When enabled verbose mode, after >boot, says: can't open: pci1/ATTO,ExpressPciProUL2D/@3:6 I also tried with higher processor cycling (14) and disabling auto boot (using keyboard and ATI card). Any suggestion? Thank you for your help Maurizio Burelli |

I suspected this, but ATTO claims their cards to be fully compatible and bootable from OsX. Also OWC says the card is compatible. Before giving up, I would like to understand if it could be a problem concerning any issue like hd jumper settings, card firmware or something like that ... I know OsX is a bit difficoult with scsi ... |

The problem is with the SCSI card. The message means you cannot boot from a hard drive attached to the ATTO card. Attach the drive to the internal SCSI chain instead. I had two SCSI drives attached to an Adaptec 2930 card and never could get it to boot except from the internal SCSI chain. Recently scraped the SCSI card and placed an ATA 133 card - Acard 6280 attached to a Maxtor 60G drive. Boots up fine with OS X.2.1 and the drive is fast and quiet. |
