A comment on an earlier thread made me wonder: The Sonnet 800 MHz chip doesn't support the software monitoring features that I've used in the past. What are the options to tracking CPU temps on this card? Stephen |

great. my ASCii drawing failed to work. :-( 1= between the fan and the heatsink 2= at the edge of the heatsink 3= between the cpu and the heatsink. |

mjoecups - there's a fan attached to the heatsink directly above the CPU die, would a thermocouple be thrown off by the fan's effect? 1 |--FAN--| / ||--sink---|| - 2 -||CPU||- 3 Which position is best? 1 2 or 3? |

Use an accurate thermometer or thermo-coupler positioned directly above the die in contact with the heat sink. The Software reading was worthless and inaccurate. |

from what I've read Motorola removed that feature from the later G4's because the temperature register was not accurate. |
