10.1.5 on 7500: 24X CD : Fix or Replace? |

This is a 7500/Carrier ZIF running a G3 275 Mhz, 40 GB ATA HD on a Sonnet ATA 100 card, 280 MB RAM. At this point I only have two problems: the fact that the used CD drive I bought as a replacement for the stock 4X it came with. I bought it cheap and it did work under 9.1. I guess I have two questions: (1) Is there a way to get it to be recognized by OS 10? (2) If not, can anyone make any recommendations about brands or specific CD or CD-RW drives that work? I have a Sonnet ATA 100 card -- will I take a huge performance hit running both HD and CD drives off of it? I have been getting the multimedia problem but that's another stream entirely. |

Ditto. My Yamaha 6416S CD_RW on the stock external scsi is functional under 10.2.1, except that toast usually hangs during verify. But the burned CD is actually fine after a force-quit. No problems as a reader. |
