I just bought Soldier of Fortune II, and I am running it on my Powertower Pro, G3/500 768M ram Radeon PCI (original). It's kind of depressing.... Even after spending hours turning down all the graphical and other options to the lowest levels, it's painful to play and to watch. Anybody out there playing modern games on there rig? Makes me yearn for a speedy dual G4 box... |

Dude! Stop talking up the V5 5500! It doesn't work in OSX!!!!!! I have one sitting in a drawer here and it drives me NUTS to think about how much I payed for it, and HOW MUCH BETTER IT IS then the Radeon. Man it would SO rock if someone figured out a way to support OpenGL on that bad boy... Well I can dream... Marty |

i am running alice, castle wolfestein, unreal and alien, bugdom, caverun, on a 8600 g4 450 voodoo 5500 64MB anti aliasing and on a biege g3 768MB 600g4(overclocked). everything looks great on both I use 4saa full screen anti aliasing and 16 bit and usually 640*480 on 8600 with medium or low textures, and 800*600-1028*768 on the biege g3 with medium candy and for the most part its pretty good just wish there were updatable drivers for osx, i run all games in 9.2.23 with open gl extensions from 9.1 and superres for more for more resoultion and refresh rates. this is probably the best if not fastest gaming pci card for looks for mac if not the fasest the 64MB and anti aliasing really help and work on all 3d games so you can play at 16 bit with out loosing Quality and dont slow games down. however thier is no 2d or 3d support in OSX, so I take it out and use the builtin when running osx |

If you really want to test your machines try World War II Online. |

Ok, I just wanted to update this thread to let people know, that I am am successfully playing SOF II on my Powerwave G4/420 (52.5Mhz bus) with Radeon PCI (original). It took a bunch of experimentation with the settings to determine that 32 bit mode is better then 16 bit, and turning off many eye candy options. The audio still get choppy at times when the action is heavy, for example when you are on the back of the flatbed truck which is driving along and you are machine gunning... Kind rough there. Anyhow, I am playing it, and it's less painful then I had feared. So apparently the G4/420 is preferable to the G3/500 for this game at least, must Graeme Devines (Sp?) Q3 G4 optimizations... Marty PS it's fun too, but real bloody. |

I have a Sonnet G4/800 and 1Gig of RAM. That's what works for the games that I have, although a G4/450 and 768MB works too. That was my previous processor and RAM config prior to September. Your mileage may vary though. |

I have an 8600 with a G3/400 Sonnet upgrade and a Radeon 7000. Unreal is simply horrid on this machine but works allright on my 8500 with a VooDoo 4 4500 and a G4 450. Pod Racer runs allright on my 8600, though. |

I'm running an 8500,xlr8-G4/450, 768M RAM, RadeonPCI 7000. I play DuesEx, MOAAA, Unreal. DuesEx and MOAAA don't run in OS10x on my machine. I run in 9.2.2.only and DuesEx and Unreal run the best. I'm not real impressed with the overall gaming abilities of my machine. |

I play Return to Castle Wolfensteing, STV: Elite Force, Alice, Aliens v. Predator, Quake III, and Unreal Tournament. You might have more success with a G4/450. Although I did play STVEF with a G3 500 after first installing 10.1 last year. It ran well but it slowed down in very large environments. |
