Hi All, I've an Entrega Technologies USB card (UPG-PCI-2U) in my Power Tower Pro. As far as I can tell it is not recognized. Apple System Profiler says: Card type: Not available Card name: pci1045,c861 Card model: Not available Card ROM#: Not available Card Revision: 16 Card vendor ID: 1045 Can anyone give me a clue as to how I can get this card to be recognized? All I have is a CD-ROm with ore-OS X drivers. Apparently Entrega is no longer in business. Thanks for the help. Raj |

I can verify the other two posters' observations. My Ratoc Firewire/USB 2.0 card does the same thing. Under OSX the USB side never shows up in ASP, though the cards ports are recognized if I look at the detail of the card itself. The Firewire ports are shown is ASP at the top of it's output screen. Under OS 9.x.x it is exactly the opposite. The USB side is reported but Firewire is invisible. All of my devices work though, despite what ASP reports. |

I'm impressed. Indeed, you are correct. My initial test was to sync my Handspring via the USB cradle, and that failed. After reading this, though, I tried it again. Turns out I had failed to enable hotsyncing in the HotSync Manager. After that it worked fine. Thanks a million. I can only hope to be al helpful to another forum member sometime soon. Raj |

I have the xact card with my 9500. I works perfectly, even if it is not displayed. I have connected a USB to IDE CDROM and a mouse. |

I wouldn't pay too much attention to what Apple System Profiler says in OS X. It shows my USB/Firewire and Ethernet cards as "unrecognized" even though they operate perfectly under OS X. Also, it never shows the connected USB devices. Since a lot of these USB cards use a generic set of chips it's possible your card is already compatible. The card name "pci1045,c861" indicates it uses an Opti chipset which is very common & supported in OS X without additional drivers. The easiest way is to plug a USB mouse into it & see if it works. Once you've checked that, you can then go about finding if your CD- ROM is supportable. It would be worth knowing what the internal drive mechanism is - ASP under OS 9 will probably tell you that. |
