After much trouble, I've recently successfully installed Jag on my upgraded Umax j700. However, in my excitement for it actually working I didn't select "options" to restrict the OS X install - so got all the Chinese, Japanese, etc. local installs. Any way to delete these after the fact to trim down the system file? i don't want to try a reinstall given problems noted below and the fact that I succeeded in getting a FWB formatted HD to boot into X. Don't want to chance my luck. Also, I don't remember setting a pswd. but I am now being prompted for my admin pswd for all new installs and upgrades. My usual pswds don't work. Any way to change the pswd without rebooting from the OS X install cd? I have tried to boot into the cd using xpf again but had all sorts of problems - it would hang just after the notification that it was trying to connect to debugger server, "Continue - c, reboot - r". Porblems got to the point where I couldn't boot back into 9 or anything - looked like the machine was dead for a while there last night. So I am reluctant to try that again, now that I've finally got it all working and am back into Jag. BTW, any problems upgrading to 10.2.2 under xpf or just leave it along with 10.2.0? umax j700, newertech G3/366, 312 mg ram, wd 18g hd (scsi), Barracuda 1g hd(scsi), ATI rage 128 |

ok - thanks for the tips. I have set up some other admin users and that has worked to do other installs. But I still have this first id showing up, so would be nice to get rid of it. Will try the Terminal suggestion. |

You can also change the password( without knowing it to begin with.) while booted from the install Disk. |

Have you tryed to make an Admin account? if not you should try. there is an option under users that should be "let this user admin this computer" |

If you did not set a passwd then it should be blank. You could try this in the terminal: sudo passwd yourusername sudo will prompt you for a password. Try what you think it should be and try leaving it blank. Otherwise, I think you are out of luck and will have to use the OSX CD method. |
