external SCSI dead in Jaguar |

another problem has now come up on my J700 - Jaguar seems to have disabled my external SCSI bus. This is really a pain, as this is where my LaCie Yamaha CD/RW drive is located, which I've used successfully with both Disk Burner and iTunes in the past with previous versions of X 10.1.3 and up. it doesn't seem to be a hardware fault, the drive is still recognized and runs when I boot into 9.1 , and Toast 4 still recognizes and burns to my drive. I've noticed that in ASP in Jaguar that the Mac now sees my chain of devices as one complete chain, rather than seeing each individual bus. The DVD and WD drives on my Acard and my two internal SCSI drives are connected to the same chain rather than listed on separate busses, the external bus doesn't show up at all. Does anyone have a solution? I don't want to have to buy another intenral CD/RW only to find that that doesn't work with Jaguar as well. (I tried installing the Yamaha mechanism on my SCSI chain inside and while it showed up on the bus it wouldn't mount any disk I put in, if you have a solution for that I would very much appreciate that too as an alternative) |

It looks as though the CurioSCSIController driver is loading, but it doesn't find any devices on the SCSI chain. I've seen this sort of thing before when the "start" method of the driver fails for one reason or another. There was a bug that affected CurioSCSIController in this way that I fixed at one point, but if you've reinstalled extensions with the latest version of XPF then you should have the benefit of that already. One other possibility is some kind of termination issue, but one would have expected to see that before 10.2. |

sorry, something went wrong there. anyway, I tried reloading extensions, but with the same results. I am noticing that when the computer and drive power up, the access light on the drive is blinking as if is actually being accessed, however when it gets to the desktop there is no mounting, and it still doesn't appear in Apple System Profiler under X. I did do the diagnostic in the terminal as someone suggested, here is the readout, perhaps someone can interpret what is going on? Last login: Sun Nov 17 18:59:50 on ttyp1 Welcome to Darwin! I moved an external SCSI Yamaha CDRW 4416 into my UMAX S900 running Jaguar using xpostfacto and had the same problem. I went to the Yamaha website and downloaded a firmware update 1.0j and upgraded the firmware on the 4416 (from 1.0b). It is all working fine now. |

next time you go back to 9 tell Xpostfacto to reinstall the extentions I had the same problem when I installed Jaguar, If yo go back far enough in this board you will find all the posts.... all kinds of suggestions but what it was was the extentions were not installed. try that. Good luck Jim |
