I have a 8500 and 9500 with G3 upgrade cards. I am having a difficult time installing 10.2 on either one. I fiddled with the 8500 for 2 days before reformatting and installing clean. I never had this problem with 10.1. Right now it boots up - I get the apple - and then the screens "smears" and it stops. I have 2 4g drives, 512 ram, an a ati video card in both. I can't take it out of the 9500 because it has no onboard video. Does anyone have suggestions? |

Found the answer!! I just used ver 2.2 of XPF and everything worked fine. Perhaps the Guru should take a look at 2.2.3 and 2.2.4. In fact - after I installed 10.2.2 using XPF 2.2, I then updated the extentions to 2.2.4 and everything is fine. It is involved in the installation process somewhere. |

I don't have any SCSI cards installed. The machine is running great right now with 10.1.5. I don't see how it could be the ram. I start it from the 10.2 CD and it brings up the apple and never gets to the spinning gizmo. The screen "smears" like grease is rubbed across the center of the screen and it locks up. If I return to 10.1.5, it works fine. BTW - I am trying to install 10.2 Server - but that shouldn't be a problem I wouldn't think. |

I have an 9500 and I had installed the 10.2 with no any problem with the XPF 2.24. Try to test your RAM with Gauge PRO. It is a MacOS 9 app and can be downloaded from versiontracker. |
