I really never did get an opportunity to work on a project with previous versions of OS X so I don't know if this is just a recent issue with 10.2.2. My two internal scsi hard drives spin down and my work flow is interrupted waiting to access a file from one or the other drive. My setup: Beige G3(UW SCSI) with Rev C ROM. 768 MB RAM Original 4 GB drive and 18GB drive added 3 years ago. OS X on the smaller drive and OS 9 on the larger one. I updated the ATTO firmware (for scsi)to 1.66 using OS9forever.com hack to 1.66. I noticed today that ATTO has another version 1.01 for OS X. I am wondering if this might be the problem. However since my drives are on different OS's which firmware version is appropriate for the scsi controller? I just remembered the command. It is pmset. In the terminal type man pmset to get the arguments to use with the command. |

that's because energy saver no longer allows you to set the drive spindown time with a slider. It now uses a check box which, if enabled, will spin the drives down after about 5 minutes of inactivity. There is a terminal command to set the timeout longer but I'm not at home right now and don't remember it offhand. |
