Unable to install any software on OSX |

I think I've successfully installed OS 10.1.3. But the system refuses to give me administration access to install any software, even though I'm the only user, and in the preferences under User it says I have admin access. Every time I click on show info under the file menu and go to privileges all the options are greyed out with no option to ignor privileges. Can anyone tell me if I'm doing something wrong or maybe the system is not configured correctly. I'm using a 7500 with an XLR8 G3 450 card, have a MacAlly 2 port USB card an external Yamaha CDRW and a Zip Drive. Phil |

Something doesn't sound right, because clicking the lock icon should bring up an authentication window which asks for your username and password (It has to be a user with Admin privs). If it isn't bringing up that window when you click the lock, then something seriously wrong is happening. |

OK, Evert time I try to install software that I have downloaded the installer window opens telling me I need to log in as an Administrator with all options on the lefthand window greyed out and every time I click on the lock in the bottom corner to try to make changes, nothing happens. The only other option in that window is "Close" and that's as far as I get. |

Show Info for what, specifically? Just because you're admin, doesn't mean you have unfettered access to everything on your box. You can't change the privileges for something that you don't own. If you're referring to ignoring privs on your startup drive, sorry, but that's not possible. |
