OSX 10.0.3 Installer doesn't recognize drives on Sonnett Tempo ATA100 PCI Card Power Wave 604/150 Processor upgrade is XLR8 G3, 500mhz, 1mb backside cache. 512 mb RAM Two 40 gb IDE drives running off ATA 100 using Apple drivers. Sonnet ATA firmware updated to latest for OSX 2.3.9 Machine runs great with OS 9.2.2 XPost Facto 2.2.5 runs its course and takes me to the OS 10.0.3 installer. When I get to the place to select a destination drive, all of my drives are greyed out except for my one small internal SCSI drive (1gb) not big enough for OSX. P.S. I used OS9 helper a few weeks ago to install 9.2.2 and it worked great. Any advice greatfully accepted. |

To expand a little the post above... I also have the sonnet ATA-100 card and in OSX it does show drives as ATA. That means you are subject to the 8GB limit. In short, you must install OSX on a parition no bigger than 8GB and that partiton must be the first partition on the HD. Scott |

There is a 8 GB limit on ATA drives and of course no limit on SCSI drives. Does your Tempo 100 see the attached drives as SCSI or ATA? You should be able to tell by opening Disk Utility and selecting the drives in question. If they are recognized as ATA then you must partition the drive to less than 8GB to install OS X. |
