Sometimes when booting back to 9.2.2 the OS X startup disk doesn't mount. If I reboot (cold or restart) it appears again. Is this an XPF issue? Any clues how to fix it? Thanx, m. |

I have never had that problem. The only hard drive problem that i have is that my firewire HD does not always mount and will sometimes shut off right after a cold boot (i never use OS9 anymore.) This is a pain but i think that it has something to do with my firewire hard drive. My father thinks it is a software problem. |

Drive Setup: Volume Settings: "Automount At Startup" should be enabled. This seems to have cured it. |

Seems to be a regular thing: each time I must do 2 boots to get the OS X disk to mount. I have tried mounting w/Drive Setup and LaCie Silverlining. Silverlining sees the disk but will not mount it; Drive Setup doesn't even know it's there. These are internal drives so I don't believe there are termination issues. thanks, m. |

Mine has done the same thing three times now except it is just the OSX partition on my IDE drive. I'd be interested in any possible causes as well since mine is not as nice. It taked multiple boots before it decides to return each. Scott |

Sounds more like a SCSI timing issue... Some drives don't come ready as quickly as others... So your OS9 boot drive might be coming ready and booting too soon for the drive with OSX on it... Try running drivesetup the next time that happens and see if you can mount the OSX drive from there... If you can that I would say it's a definite SCSI timing issue. Some drives have the ability to set drive spin up delay for just this reason. You might be able to fix your issue by setting the OS9 boot disk to delay a couple of seconds... Check the sticker on the drive or the info at the drive vendors web site... Marty PS the fact that it works on cold boot is contrary to my theory above....??? Check your termination... |
