Has anyone tried Final Cut Express on unsupported Macs? iMovie 2.1.1 works OK in my 8600/XLR8 G4 450 but iMovie 3.0.1 was a complete disaster with my setup: Export to tape stuttered so that the video frame rate was about 1 frame per second or even several seconds per frame!! It is like watching a slide show instead of a video and I'm not kidding! Also the audio stuttered badly. iMovie also crashed a couple of times (v2.1.1 never crashed). I'm using 10.1.5 -- is there any difference whether you are using 10.1.5 vs 10.2 with iMovie 3.0.1? But what about Final Cut Express? |

That is cool that you got to use 10.2.4 before everybody else, I know that Macnn (www.Macnn.com) had a blurb on apple requesting feedback but more specifically, problems, go check it out. |

I've got Final Cut Pro 3.0.4 running on my Power Tower Pro w/OSX 10.2.3 so I would expect that Final Cut Express would run well also. I've had problems with iMovie 3 also. I think part of the problem for the first few days was that the Ken Burns effect was rendering my iPhoto library but I never ran the program long enough for it to finish. I also reinstalled iMovie 2 because I was not happy with iMovie 3's performance. Now iMovie 3, though not great runs a little better. I'm not sure if it was reinstalling iMovie 2 or the iPhoto library being rendered which made it better. Still, it's performance is not acceptable. There are sound dropouts in video, beeps in the audio, and jerky playback. There is definitely something wrong with the software. I hope that Apple will soon acknowledge the problem and fix it. I wonder if iMovie three will run better under 10.2.4. I played around with the iApps at Macworld and all the demo machines they had on the show floor were running 10.2.4. |

I did not even know that iLife was supported on 10.1. I thought that everything apple was doing was for 10.2 now, but i could be wrong. |
