My 7300 with G4/800 recognizes in OS X.2.4 my external SCSI CD-ROM-drive Teac R55S as a player only. DiskCopy doesnÕt find the drive as recorder. The Teac Support site doesnÕt offer drivers, but sais, that the proper drivers will outomatically be loaded at the start of programs like Toast, but since I donÕt own a System 10 Version of Toast, this is not a very big help. DiskCopy should see the recorder Òfrom its ownÓ, I think. Has anybody a simple solution? Richard |

I think OS X is very picky on what drives it sees as a burner. I had an internal CD-R that it recognized as a player only. Also Toast did not see it in OS X although it had no problem in OS 9. I had to eventually get another burner which I attached to my IDE card. I don't think you have any choice but to either buy Toast or get another burner. If you have a PCI slot available you should go ahead and get the IDE card to connect a atapi burner; you can try to find a scsi cheap burner on ebay, but even then the burner may not be actually supported. |
