Since reformating hard drive,(Hard disk Speedtools) install of 9.1, 9.2.2, and 10.2 ,three partitions, went with out a problem. But,now in any OS downloads will not open. I get an error: The document "XPostFacto.sit" could not be opened, because the application program that created it could not be found. Could not find a translation extension with appropriate translators. Also if it does try to open I get an error: The application "XPostFacto" has unexpectedy quit, because an error type 7 occured. This seems to happen with almost any download. Netscape just dissapears when it starts to install. |

launch Disk Utility in your Utilities folder in the Applications folder and select your OSX drive and Repair the Permissions you will find that under the First Aid tab in the Disk Utility I do it at least twice a week sure saves on problems. |

Thanks, I a new version of stuffit (7.1) seems to have solved this problem. I still need XPF to go from 9,1 to 10.2 correct? Now, if i could only get OS X to stop CRASHING! Everytime a download starts OSX freeses (I am trying to download Stuffet)How do you clear a freese in OSX without rebooting? Are there any conflicts with ATI 7000 video cards, this is the only addition. The 9600 card had only one resolution. The crashes have continued to get worse with each reboot. |

how did Xpostfacto get brought into this? an install of an application or minor system updates should not need Xpostfacto so why are you getting an error with XpostFacto? if you miss took XpostFacto for stuffit then follow their advice other wise you have a strange problem if you are double clicking on a file and XpostFacto opens. i might be miss reading your post because it sounds like you have already installed 10.2 and all 10.2.x updates do not require xpostfacto. |

Sometimes finding older stuffit versions and getting rud of them can help too. You can test this by manually forcing your newest stuffit to open the .sit file (drag and drop). Marty |

Sorry I missread your post - sounds like either the downloads are not complete or you need a new Stuffit. when you start a download make note of what the size of the file is and after the DL quits check the size of the downloaded file if it is smaller than the original size then your DL failed and you need to try again or reconnect and try to finish the DL. |

Thanks. But, this does open some times. Some times it tries to open then quits. Some times it will open and works. |

you need stuffit to decompress the file. .sit is a compressed file |
