OS 9 bootable cd under OS X |

Hi I know my question is a bit weird but I'll ask it anyway. Is it possible to create a Mac OS 9 bootable CD while using OS X? I tried and wasted several blank cds as they do not work in my computer running OS 9. I believe the reason is that the system folder on the cd does not bear the OS 9 icon; instead it is plainly marked: "System folder". Since my cd recorder is hooked up to my G4 and is not recognized by Toast and Disc Burner under OS 9 I have no choice but use 0S x to create a startup cd for my second computer. My recorder is recognized by OS 9 system profiler but Disc Burner does not see it. Is my mission impossible? Thanks Laurier |

I have the same problem as I want to reduce the amount of extensions that are l;oaded in OS9. So my disc recorder is not shown in OS9. The only way that you can create a OS 9 boot cd it to boot from OS 9 create a disk image put the OS 9 folder bless the system (open and close the folder so the hace the happy mac icon) and create a desktop folder folder. To do that just drug something from the new diskmimage out to the desktop and put it buck in. so you will have an empty desktop folder. Then open toast and select the mac volume option. Select the volume and press make bootable and unselect the optimize on the fly. Create a new toast disk image and save it at your disk. The boot buck from OS X and burn this image to a CD. DO NOT MOUNT THE IMAGE. You can try burn the disc at a CDRW just to test it. I used it for my first time in order to learn how to make the disc. I burnet a lot of discs with this procedure with no problems. Oh and something strange the first thing that you insert at the CD be the System folder as some times it does not boot if the system is not at the begining of the disk or use an optimizer utility that puts system files at the begining of the disk. I hope that this helps |
