L2 Cache Config |

I am unable to enable the L2 Cache configuration in OS-X. Per the instructions, I first put a copy of the L2cacheconfig file on my OS-X system disk. Since I'm using 9.2.2, I couldn't use GrabCacheSetting, so I made a text file named L2cache.config with the value of my L2CR register (0x00083202), which I left on the OS 9 desktop. When I boot up in OS-10.2, the L2cacheconfig file launches OK, but never finds the file on the desktop with the setting values- everything on the window is grayed out. At the pulldown menu, I can select "import settings", and locate the file I made, but it does nothing. Anyone with similar experience, or am I doing something wrong? All help/advice appreciated. Hmmm.... Your L2CR register looks a bit odd to me. It looks like you might have got the Processor Version Number rather than the Current L2CR. You can get software from PowerLogix that drives most cards from http://www.powerlogix.com. The OS9 version is G3/G4 Cache Profiler 1.5 or the OSX Version is Cache Control X 2.1b4. You can load either of those and then check the Current L2CR setting under the Cache Control tab. Put that value in a text file and import it into L2CacheConfig and everything should work. |

I can't help with the L2 cache setup, but if you are using a Sonnet card use their free OS X TuneUp. It will enable the L2 AND L3, and load WAAAY before the L2 cache enabler does. Tom |
