I'm about to install OSX on an upgraded PowerCenter but I need to get a video card for this thing first. I don't want to spend a lot of money cause it's gonna be for surfing, etc. Would the ATI Rage 16 mg be okay? I want to enable PCI Quartz Extreme for this board as I did for the ATI Mac Edition on my 9500. Can anyone tell me for sure if this cheapter ATI card will work with Open GL and Quartz Extreme? Thanks Keith |

Success!!! I've successfuly installed 10.2.5 on this old PowerCenter without a hitch. I did install three 128 meg ram chips and an old IXmicro video card (for now, and a little sluggish), but everything works fine and I'm using it now. Thanks for the input and especially to Ryan wherever you are. It was great, didn't have one single problem except getting my PPP settings a little screwed up. Keith |

Quartz extreme is marginal at best on PCI video cards. |

Check the threads for Flashing the ATI 7000 card. You can buy a card for about $50 and flash on a PC then run it on the mac. |

The Rage 128 will doesn't do Quartz Extreme, and it is not just because QE needs 32 MB of VRAM. The Radeon 7000 is the lowest end card to support Quartz Extreme. |
