I'm using a NewerTech g3/500 with my 9600/200 324 ram I keep getting this error when trying to install X The installer has unexpectedly quit Press the Return key to restart the computer... kmod_destroy: com.apple.driver.AppleScreamerAudio (id33), deallocating 9 pages starting at 0xbe85000 kmod_destroy: com.appl.driver.AppleThermal (id34), dellocating 3 pages starting at 0xbe34000 |

I've seen that error on a couple different systems and in both cases it was a disk error... Using a different install cd worked for one of them (imac 333 no Xposfacto invovlved). The other I changed to a different drive(8500/1500). YMMV Marty PS Not to contradict Ryan that is.... |

The most common reason for errors of this kind has to do with memory issues--you might try swapping out some RAM to see whether you can isolate a problematic DIMM. |
